In case you already forgot, Halloween was last Wednesday; so, our Stop Zombie Mouth campaign was all over the news! Don’t worry (I know you were), we’ve weeded through the articles to bring you the best coverage as well as a couple other hits!

Hold up! Wait! Before you hastily click out of this blog, allow us to divert your attention for just one moment to our Stop Zombie Mouth campaign, run in conjunction with the American Dental Association, in which we offer a tempting alternative to kids’ 100th chocolate bar this coming Halloween: a free copy of Plants vs. Zombies! We’ve made some absolutely fantastic Plants vs. Zombies trading card packs, complete with a code for a free download of the game, available to thousands of participating dentists with the notion of educating families about the importance of dental hygiene in a fun and non-pedantic way. Even better, we’re also letting you download printable coupons with the free game codes to pass out to kids — or keep for yourself. So, yes, you do not even actually have to visit the dentist to get a free game! But we of course still strongly encourage you to do so.

This week, we formally announced the Stop Zombie Mouth campaign at a press conference in New York City, held at the Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum in beautiful Times Square, and a splendid time was had by all, including the dentally challenged zombies.

Representatives of both PopCap and the ADA were on hand to speak to members of the press and prominent family bloggers about the campaign, both to spread awareness and to make clear — despite the good-natured humor around the event — the seriousness of our intentions. And, because this campaign is centered around children, after all, we invited a group of kids along to play games, have fun and get some cool free stuff.

At the end of the event, we were handed a signed proclamation by U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer of New York in recognition of the campaign, which both PopCap and the ADA are grateful and honored to receive.

All this excitement, however, did lead one unfortunate zombie to somehow misunderstand the message of the event — in one embarrassing moment this zombie managed to get to the podium and announce his intention to run for office. He was quickly escorted from the building and pummeled with peas and corn.

With Halloween only a week away, there has been a lot of chatter about our Stop Zombie Mouth campaign. If you haven’t checked out the Stop Zombie Mouth website . . . do it now! But first, catch up on some great PopCap news:

• Kansas City’s FOX 4 featured the campaign video as well as an interview with a local pediatric dentist; talking about dental hygiene and the campaign!

• Spielo has made some awesome PopCap-themed slot machines. There will be Plants vs. Zombies, Zuma, and Bejeweled machines. Take a look at one of the PvZ machines in Casino Journal.

• Inside Social Games talks about the best and worst games on Facebook according to DAU (Daily Active Users). They won’t be surprised if Bejeweled Blitz jumps up a few spots by next month! Duh! Oh, and we’re bringing “duh” back.

• It is the month of Halloween, but it is also Breast Cancer awareness month. Gaming Angels let us know about this great breast cancer fundraiser created by The Game Show Network and Breast Cancer Research Foundation. They will raise money for breast cancer research by playing in online game tournaments. We are pleased to know that Bejeweled 2 is one of the games in the tournament, with 10% of the entry fee going to the foundation. Play on, and for a great cause!

With our countdown to Halloween officially begun, we have some spooky-good news about our Stop Zombie Mouth campaign, a trip down iPod memory lane, and more!

• The Stop Zombie Mouth campaign is in full swing as it makes a Page 1 appearance in the print edition of ADA News. Not to mention, the campaign music video made its public debut! Check out the video and other campaign treats at stopzombiemouth.com.

• Not only did the Stop Zombie Mouth video launch, but so did the new campaign trading cards! Here is some of the press that covered these limited edition cards: Venture Beat, The Verge, and Digital Trends.

• Seattle Business Magazine had its 2012 Tech Impact Awards for companies and organizations that use technology to have a positive impact on the lives of others… and in 1^st place, PopCap! Check out what they had to say here.

• Remember when all iPods had click wheels? The Verge does, and they think Peggle was one of the best wheel games! Obviously!

Lastly, Plants vs. Zombies was listed by Pad Gadget as one of the best games to play if you want to kill time during a meeting. However, if you get fired for doing this, we will deny ever giving you this information.
