Hey, everybody, I get it. Sometimes, weeks are hard. The boss is a micro-managing twit, your co-workers spend all day scratching their heads and going “umm,” and that woman in the kitchen just spent a half hour telling you really odd personal details. With a week like that, it’s almost forgivable that you might forget that today is a great day, cause it’s awesome BlogRide writer Dana’s birthday! You should all be toasting her, singing to her, and giving her high fives right now!
For those of us who get to be on the blog team with her every day, that’s not enough, of course. Don’t get me wrong, we’re doing those things, but also have written about her below. Cause she’s great! Oh, also, because pictures are nice, each Dana-graph will be followed by a pic of Dana in costume. Cause she rocks the costumes.
First, from BlogRide regular guest and Community Manager extraordinaire Tara:
Happy Birthday to my PopCap bestie! Dana is the first person I ever met at PopCap. She gave the first compliment I received here, my first interview, and was the first person to train me in all things PopCap. We’ve easily become the best of friends and I can’t imagine life without her (and her precious kitties, Chaos & Lethe!). Dana is always the person I go to for any work questions, like, “Does this sentence make sense?” “Are these customers getting what they need?” “Do you want to get out of the office for a cup of coffee?” She’s my go-to in my personal life too, with me asking continually, “Want to play a game?”, “Can you believe THIS happened?!” You know the drill with girlfriends! Dana is one of the smartest women I’ve ever met, not to mention the most beautiful. Dana inspires me daily with the way she takes care of EVERYONE around her; always knowing the right thing to say, the perfect gift, or there if you just need a good hug (she’s also well known around the ‘hood for giving every sweet pet that waddles by some serious love!). You are a true example of a selfless human being, and I am incredibly proud and honored to call you my friend. Happiest of birthdays to you, Dana! <3
Next up, from erudite super heroic BlogRider Philip:
Faster than a speeding email! More powerful than a disgruntled gamer! Able to leap tall problems in a single bound! Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Dana! Yes, it’s Dana . . . strange visitor from another planet, who came to Earth with powers and abilities far beyond those of mere mortals! Dana . . . who can change the course of complaining rivers, bend grumpy people in her bare hands, and who, disguised as . . . well, disguised as herself, mild-mannered writer and customer support superstar for a great metropolitan video game company, fights a never-ending battle for truth, justice and the Awesome way! Stay tuned for more exciting episodes of the Adventures of Dana!
And from our very own grammatical genius, Julie:
No one deserves a happy birthday more than Dana! She sweetens our lives each week with batches of delicious cookies, writes creative, amusing and informative blog posts, is a tireless and enthusiastic fan of our games, and does a superb job of taking care of our customers. Plus, she’s always up for a debate on semantics, grammar or punctuation (yes, this is fun for some of us!). Now, on to a discussion of the meaning of: Many Happy Returns!
Finally, let’s end this celebration of the best Dana ever with a little fairy tale:
Once upon a time there was a dear little girl who was liked by everyone who looked at her, but most of all by her co-workers, and there was nothing that they would not have given to the child. The little girl had a very special relationship with dragons that eat popcorn, and was known far and wide, throughout many lands, for her ability to create creative words out of a handful of letters. Every morning she woke up, determined to make the lives of customers better, and to deliver the most delicious treats to her teammates, to ensure that they had enough weight to make it through the cold months. She dressed in an assortment of fantastic and fantastical costumes, wasn’t afraid to take zombies across the world, and was known far and wide for her witty blog posts – especially the headlines. Her name was Dana, and today is her birthday. And this is where we all wish her a big “happily ever after.”
