You’ve been waiting for it for years, and we’ve been working on it for years. And if it seemed that the day might never come, we are here today, friends, to make it official: Plants vs. Zombies 2 is finally out, and ready to play. And given that we’ve wanted to type that sentence for as long as you’ve wanted to read it, allow us a minor indulgence here for a moment of unbridled enthusiasm:
Okay. We feel better now.
Plants vs. Zombies 2 is free-to-play and initially available exclusively on the App Store for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, with more platforms to be added later this year and beyond. That’s the official line. To say it in plainer English: If you have an i-device, you know what to do and you’re welcome. If you don’t, don’t worry. We promise we haven’t forgotten you. We’d rather eat our own brains than not have you play the game too.
Plants vs. Zombies 2 is an epic, transcendent, heart-rending adventure through time, the poignant story of a man in search of a taco only to find, instead, hordes of undead zombies who can only be defeated by powerful plant life. Yes, Crazy Dave is back, and this time he and his botanical brigade must travel throughout history, battling the undead in a variety of historical settings, beginning with Ancient Egypt and ending… well, who knows? Designed as an ever-expanding universe that will offer regular updates including new worlds full of new plants, zombies and challenges, Plants vs. Zombies 2 extends the classic gameplay of the original for endless hours of fun.
What else do you get for a grand total of zero money down? More than 60 levels at launch; all-new gameplay enhancements like Plant Food, which drops from glowing zombies and offers temporary but powerful boosts to your plant attacks; brand-new gesture-based power-ups that enable players to interact with zombies directly; side missions, mini-games and other brain-teasing challenges in every world; and Challenge Zones at the end of every world to provide never-ending quests for glory.
We know you’ve been waiting forever, but we promise it’s been worth the wait. We take our time here at PopCap because we want to get it right. We think we’ve managed to do that. But, hey, there’s only one way to find out if we did, right? So go download it, now!
